LEAD Distinguished Speaker Series

GW’s access to alumni who have distinguished themselves as leaders sets the university apart from all others.  We have initiated an annual Distinguished LEAD Speaker event.  The speakers will be asked to compose a talk based on leadership principles learned through their military experience, which would connect directly to LEAD fellows who may go on to complete distinguished careers in the U.S. Navy or Marine Corps.  This event will be made available to the wider GW community.  With this goal in mind, Dr. Warren, as a member of the U.S. Naval Academy's “Renowned Leadership Class of 1968,” has personal connections with distinguished leaders such as Admiral Michael Mullen (ret.) – former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (and CNO before that); Major General Charles Bolden Jr. (ret.) – current Administrator of NASA and former NASA astronaut; and James Webb Jr. – past U.S. Senator from Virginia and former Secretary of the Navy (to name a few).  These leaders are known for having the interest to share their personal thoughts on leadership with company officers from their alma mater.
