Communication professor, Dr. Wendy Riemann, recently traveled to Chicago to speak at a pop culture conference in a session called "Ugly Love," about her new study, A qualitative analysis and evaluation of social support received after experiencing a broken marriage engagement and impacts on holistic health, published in the journal of Qualitative Research in Medicine and Healthcare.
"It felt great to share," Dr. Riemann said. "Some people think caterpillars are ugly... then they turn into beautiful butterflies. 'Ugly' breakups often direct us to a more beautiful path - if we open our eyes enough to see it. And we can help someone struggling by being in their moment and offering more beautiful support messages."
