OSC faculty member, Dr. Daniel Sude, recently had his research featured in a PsyPost article titled "'A concerning finding': New study on fake news detection uncovers a disturbing trend."

Dr. Sude's research was published last September in Frontiers in Psychology. In an article titled "True, justified, belief? Partisanship weakens the positive effect of news media literacy on fake news detection" Dr. Sude and colleagues uncovered that while news media literacy helps individuals recognize and doubt news from unfamiliar sources, strong partisan biases can reverse this skepticism, especially in the case of fake news. This insight emerged from an extensive investigation involving over 2,400 American participants, aiming to untangle how people judge the accuracy of news content in the digital age.
