Mary K. Lee joined the Organizational Sciences and Communications Department in August 2020.  Mary spent 19 years as an administrator at George Washington University serving under the Executive Vice President and Treasurer.  During her tenure as a higher education administrator she worked on cross-divisional, cross-functional initiatives to improve university processes, to improve the student experience with business services and residential life, advised on strategic priorities and led service excellence projects and initiatives.  She spent time in the private sector as well in consulting, banking, public finance, and most recently project management.  She currently provides Program Management and Strategic Advisory services under her own LLC KingsLeeCooper Consulting.  She teaches ORSC 6241 and serves as the Graduate Advisor for Master of Organizational Science students.  Mary received her doctorate in Higher Education Administration from GW.  Her research focused on the intersection of organizational culture and organizational effectiveness to understand how organizational culture can align with managerial and operational practices to improve goal and mission attainment for higher education institutions.  Much of the research around this subject is grounded in management theory where Mary’s MBA was instrumental in her doctoral research.  Mary received her MBA from the Wharton school of Business as a Johnson & Johnson Leadership Fellow and the Henry & Marcelle Morgenthau Public Administration Fellow, pursuing a double concentration of finance and public policy.  At Tufts University Mary majored in Economics and Spanish.  Mary is student focused in her teaching approach valuing the student’s perspective and experiences to enrich the subject matter of the courses and to take theory to practice for the students.
