Dr. Silver’s research focuses on tobacco industry marketing tactics, misinformation, and the dissemination of anti-tobacco control discourse online. He uses a combination of experimental, survey, and content analytic methods in addition to social media analytic tools to examine how  changes in the 21st century information environment create barriers to effective regulation of the tobacco industry. As a research manager at Truth Initiative, his research contributes to the evidence base for effective tobacco regulation as well as formative research for the campaign.
